CANVAS Chelsea – the new location for Michael RiemenschneiderAfter a short summer break Michael Riemenschneider and his team at CANVAS have re-opened in new premises. Located on the border of Knightsbridge and Chelsea at 1 Wibraham Place, the new CANVAS site intends to be a memorable gastronomic experience on the former site of Le Cercle.

Not a blank canvas!

The menu at CANVAS reflects Michael’s extensive experience working in some of Europe’s best kitchens, from Phillippe Rochat to Heston Blumenthal his extensive culinary palate has ensured that his menu is anything other than a blank canvas.

Michael will be offering his guests a selection of 18 dishes to choose from, meaning you can opt for a potential three course a la carte menu or a more experimental 12 course tasting menu – depending on your choice, the size of the plates will be altered accordingly.

Divided into three sections; Sea and Coast, Land and Earth and Guilty Pleasures there is certainly something for everyone. From sea bass with fondue, caper berries and navet through to vension with solferino, walnut and chocolate as well as a lemon pudding with caramel, cream and olive oil, all dishes reflect Michael’s accomplished cooking style whilst always remaining seasonal.

Experimental cocktail bar

A new addition to CANVAS Chelsea is the experimental cocktail bar. Here an impressive oak clad bar will serve cocktails that remain in tune with the menu via molecular mixology, resulting in cocktails good enough to eat. Head barman Kamil Patryk has gained experience working in some of London’s most revered bars – most recently the Polo Bar at The Westbury – and intends to create something entirely unique ensuring that the cocktails can be enjoyed both as an aperitif, digestive or paired with your entire menu.

Chef’s table

Within the restaurant there is also a bespoke Chef’s Table that seats up to six guests which has been built by hand and is set within its own private room overlooking both the kitchen pass and the restaurant itself.

The Chef’s Table experience will include a tour of the CANVAS Wine Rooms by expert Sommelier Alis Jusic while enjoying an aperitif, before being taken through the kitchen to the Chef’s Table for the unique dining experience.  Guests will be able to interact with Michael and his team throughout the meal, asking any questions of the team and with the acclaimed Chef introducing the courses as and when they are served.

CANVAS will seat 60 people as well as a private dining room for up to 12 guests. Overlooking the entire restaurant floor the private dining room can be entirely partitioned or remain incorporated into the main restaurant; like the menu itself, the choice is yours. Personally designed by Michael the restaurant interior is modern and sleek. Natural woods combined with earthy paint pallor successfully create a light and airy space which is informal and relaxed.
