Hard Rock Cafe set to rock Glasgow from November 2013Scotland’s largest city gets ready to rock, as the iconic Hard Rock Cafe makes its way to Glasgow and is set to open November 2013. The multi-level Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will be situated on Buchanan Street in the heart of the city’s historic Style-Mile.

Blending the city’s historic feel with the energy and vibe of the Hard Rock brand, Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will be housed at 179 Buchanan Street in the restored, renaissance-inspired, 1891 Athenaeum Theatre.  The new cafe will have more than 9,000 square-feet of space, including spacious seating for 170 guests, a live music area for weekly events, a late night bar and a merchandise-filled Rock Shop.

Additionally, the cafe will have the ability to be used for unique private celebrations and memorable event functions to accommodate Glasgow’s growing conference market.

Upscale design and technology

Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will pay homage to the city’s reputation of being at the forefront of contemporary style and trends with upscale design features and innovative technology that will be featured throughout the cafe’s indoor and outdoor dining areas.

The new location will be complete with the Rock Wall™ Solo, an interactive touch wall with technology that enables fans to explore the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia collection and virtually tour the company’s venues around the world.

In addition, memorabilia from Hard Rock’s iconic collection will adorn the walls of Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow, including: a green two-piece suit worn by The Who’s Pete Townshend in the 1975 film ‘Tommy’, the burgundy velvet school boy outfit worn by Angus Young of AC/DC, an artist paint palette used by the Scottish-born ‘fifth Beatle’, Stuart Sutcliffe when at the Liverpool College of Art, the Epiphone Firebird guitar covered in mirrored tiles that Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall used in her ‘Hold On’ video, a sports tie worn by Eric Clapton, and many more.

Glasgow – a key market

“Hard Rock is excited to expand our European portfolio to include this unique location in Glasgow, a key market for our brand,” said David Pellow, European Vice President of Operations, Hard Rock International. “Glasgow is a superb musical hub within Scotland, and we look forward to serving Glasgow’s residents and visitors with a one-of-a-kind entertainment package, while establishing Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow as a must-visit dining and bar destination within the city.”

Rock Shop

The Glasgow cafe’s Rock Shop will offer rock ‘n’ roll-inspired items, as well as collectible Hard Rock Cafe merchandise in its exclusive retail location.  This Glasgow-specific merchandise can only be purchased at this location, which offers an exclusive design quality that enhances each item’s appeal.  Fans can also acquire Hard Rock’s much-coveted signature pins.
