Carluccio’s receives Gluten-Free AccreditationItalian restaurant group Carluccio’s has received gluten-free (GF) accreditation for its gluten-free menu from Coeliac UK, the national charity for people with coeliac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis. For the one in 100 people across the UK with coeliac disease, this means more choice on the high street, with the all-day dining menu being served in Carluccio’s 91 UK restaurants and the two restaurants based in Ireland.

Gluten-free menu since 2010

The brand has served gluten-free pasta since 2008 and a gluten-free menu since 2010. The menu includes many of the dishes from the normal menu, from breakfast, antipasti and salads to pasta, main dishes and desserts.

Signature items include Carluccio’s Breakfast Magnifica (your choice of free range eggs, with pan fried pancetta, sautéed mushrooms and toasted gluten-free bread, coffee or tea and a fresh juice), the Antipasti Verdure to share (a vegetarian selection of roasted peppers, Buffalo mozzarella, semi-dried tomatoes, balsamic onions, olives and green beans with gluten free bread) and Giardiniera (a homemade gluten-free corn and rice pasta dish with courgette, chilli, Italian cheese and garlic). The menu also includes gluten-free versions of many of the new seasonal dishes that are available.

Importance of this market

Coeliac UK Chief Executive, Sarah Sleet, comments: “We know eating out safely is a top concern for people with coeliac disease, who must follow a strict gluten-free diet for life. We are working with the catering industry to help them deliver good quality menu choices for people with coeliac disease and we are delighted Carluccio’s is recognising the importance of catering for this market by gaining accreditation from Coeliac UK for their separate gluten-free (GF) menu.”

Simon Kossoff, Chairman of Carluccio’s said: “We’re proud to be an industry leader in gluten-free dining. We strive to provide our customers with an extensive offering that caters for all tastes and preferences. The gluten-free range is a prime example of how we have responded to a growing demand and developed our menu to ensure a true Italian experience is enjoyed by each and every customer.”
