Following a successful soft launch, 8 Mount Street, the new Mayfair- based brasserie and bar, will officially open on 10th December.
Combining elegant simplicity with a contemporary twist, this 78-seater venue is housed in a stunning period building on what was one of Mayfair’s original shopping streets and which still boasts some of London’s most glamorous retailers.
Offering guests a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, the warm brass paneling on the walls contrasts beautifully with the crisp white linen, leather banquettes and carved wooden chairs. The interior, designed by Clément Blanchet, the man behind the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, also features a 30-foot long Italian marble bar dining counter that runs the length of the room. With seating on either side of the bar itself, this offers a great alternative to the slightly more formal table arrangements in the main restaurant.
At the rear of the restaurant is a delightful eight-cover tiled private dining area with large picture windows overlooking an outside terrace complete with living wall.
Chef Adrian Mellor
Created by executive chef Adrian Mellor, who has headed up the kitchens at some of the world’s leading five star hotels, the Waldorf Astoria, Maldives among them, as well as working as private chef to King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan, the food at 8 Mount Street aims to be in a class of its own.
Comprising a mixture of signature creations and new takes on much-loved brasserie fare, these Mediterranean inspired dishes are both full of flavour and visually stunning.
Set to become instant favourites are starters such as pecorino crème brûlée, aged balsamic & red onion marmalade and mains of the quality of grilled marinated lamb cutlets & smoked aubergine and lobster linguini.
Bar 8
Beneath the restaurant lies a hidden gem, Bar 8, an intimate, standalone bar that offers all the exclusivity of a private members’ club but without the need for membership.
Here in this softly lit space, with its unique triangular shaped bar surrounded by green leather and white marble, guests can sample one of the expertly mixed cocktails, from classics through to house specialities such as the Jade, a delicate and refreshing blend of Japanese green tea infused Sipsmith gin, sauvignon blanc syrup, egg white & lime juice. A menu of innovative bar food will be introduced in the New Year.
