Byrgyrs am byth! The first ever Cardiff Shake Shack will open its doors Tuesday 22 December. This Shack is prominently positioned on the first floor of St. David’s Shopping Centre, the Welsh capital’s premier shopping and leisure destination.
Shake Shack is a critically acclaimed, modern day “roadside” burger stand known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers (no added hormones), griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle cut fries, beer and wine and more. A fun and lively community gathering place with widespread appeal, Shake Shack has earned a cult-like following around the world.
Cardiff is a perfect fit
“Home to a rapidly growing culinary scene, Cardiff is a perfect fit for our first UK Shack outside of London,” said Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti. “For us, it was an obvious choice, checking all the boxes of what we look for in a new home. St. David’s Shopping Centre is a dynamic community hub and we’re excited to connect with our local Welsh guests and visitors alike.”
The menu will feature a complete craft beer and wine list. Guests will be able to kick back with a selection of hand-picked local brews including Silures APA and Brigid Fire IPA from Celt Experience Brewing as well as FUBAR, PA and Cwtch, WRA from Tiny Rebel Brewing Co. in addition to Shack exclusives ShackMeister Ale (available on tap and brewed exclusively for Shake Shack by Thornbridge Brewery), Shack Redand Shack White (bottled exclusively for Shake Shack by Lafage in Languedoc-Roussillon, France).
Location specific concretes
Shake Shack’s frozen custard—dense, rich and creamy ice cream spun fresh daily—will be featured in shakes and concretes (frozen custard blended at high speed with mix-ins). The Cardiff Shack will include three location specific concretes with mix-ins derived from local partners: Welsh Cake Jam (vanilla custard, welsh cake from Fabulous Welsh Cakes and strawberry jam), Union Shack (chocolate custard, St. JOHN Bakery chocolate hazelnut brownie, fudge sauce, paul.a.young chocolate chunks and Maldon salt), and Cardiff Crunch-Stellation (vanilla custard, malt powder, paul.a.young chocolate chunks and chocolate toffee).
Meanwhile, in London…
New Oxford Street Shack will open its doors Friday 18 December. Situated in the heart of the West End, Shake Shack will be located on the ground floor of 80 New Oxford Street—a short walk from the Tottenham Court Road underground station—where it will welcome theatregoers, shoppers and professionals alike.
