Shackfuyu launches private dining roomFollowing a successful relaunch as a permanent restaurant in December, Soho based Japanese comfort food favourite, Shackfuyu, has now opened the doors to a brand new private dining room, accommodating up to 16 guests.

The private dining room has been designed to be in-keeping with the palette of the main restaurant, combining dark grey walls, dark blue 1970s leather upholstered chairs and low hanging, industrial light fittings, with flashes of Shackfuyu’s signature colour, green, appearing in a tiled wall and bar counter. An exposed brick wall painted white provides the backdrop to an impressive collection of Japanese film and music posters, adding a laid back vibe to the room, whilst three copper doors add an ornate touch to the space. The large wooden table is a focal point, designed for the easy sharing of Shackfuyu dishes and for comfortable group socialising.

Guests of the private dining room can select one of two set menus, both designed to showcase a selection of Shackfuyu’s most popular dishes, or enjoy a bespoke menu created by Ben Hughes, the Head Chef. Shack classics including sweet, sticky and spicy Korean fried wings and the ever-popular aubergine with 4 miso and bubu arare feature on the £35 per person set menu, alongside innovative new dishes including kare pan, a rabbit curry doughnut served with daikon mayo. Other favourites from the a la carte menu, including prawn toast masquerading as okonomiyaki and iberico pork pluma, can be found on the £40 per person set menu with another of Shackfuyu’s recent menu additions, nama harumaki, a fresh spring roll made with Cornish crab. Private dining room guests will be pleased to hear that both menus culminate in one of the most talked about dishes of 2015 for dessert: Shackfuyu’s signature Kinako French toast with soft-serve matcha ice cream.

Perfect for birthdays or group celebrations of any kind, Shackfuyu’s new private dining space provides a relaxed, comfortable and intimate space in which to enjoy some of London’s most popular Japanese dishes.
