Restaurant celebrates 10 years with interior refresh and enhanced menu
This year InterContinental London Park Lane marks 10 years since acclaimed Chef Theo Randall launched his award-winning Italian restaurant; Theo Randall at the InterContinental. To celebrate this milestone, Theo has enhanced his menu of simple, rustic, Italian cuisine with new dishes to complement his much-loved signatures.
The menu will be available from mid-February when the restaurant re-opens its doors following an interior refresh, which will include a ‘kitchen table’ experience and updated bar with new menu and extensive drinks selection. The restaurant has gone from strength-to-strength since it opened to critical acclaim in November 2006, following Theo’s success at Michelin starred The River Café, where he was head chef for 15 years.
Theo’s new dishes will celebrate the simple yet robust flavours of Italian cooking, with seasonality at its heart. There will be an emphasis on fish and shellfish plus a selection of rare breed cattle and poultry dishes on the menu. In addition, a daily changing à la carte lunch menu has been created to incorporate a greater choice of dishes, seasonality, and varying prices.
New choices will include a fresh and vibrant Sogliola (whole roasted dover sole with lemon parsley and capers with carcofi alla Romana and swiss chard); a rich Agnolotti di Piccione (fresh pasta stuffed with slow cooked pigeon with Porcini and Trompette de la Mort mushrooms); and a warming Cervo (loin of venison wrapped in coppa di Parma, roasted with Alatico di Puglia wine with delica squash mash and cavolo nero).
The revised bar menu has been designed to offer a selection of authentic and innovative Italian cocktails, while the wine list will feature natural wines from young artisan winemakers and an extensive selection of Italian wines by the glass. A menu of small dishes and antipasti will be available at the bar; created to make it a destination in its own right.
Of the changes Theo said; “When we created the revised menu we were really careful not to take out any of the classic dishes. It is more a case of adding new ones! We have been talking to our guests for the last six months and they were very clear that they already love what we do. The new offering is just an enhanced version of what we’ve been doing with a few more exciting additions.”
While Theo is a regular on national television, and has published two successful recipe books, PASTA (2006) and My Simple Italian (2015), he remains true to his culinary roots and can be found in the kitchen for most services.
The restaurant interior will have a more contemporary feel, with a brighter, lighter colour scheme. Design consultancy SuperFutures has been employed to lead the refresh, which will also see the installation of a brand new Kitchen Table seating up to eight people. Here, guests can enjoy a tasting menu designed 24 hours beforehand, guaranteeing a truly seasonal and spontaneous dining experience.
In addition to the popular existing private dining room, the interior update will also see the introduction of a second private room, connected via a sliding door. The new room will seat up to 40 guests, with the opportunity for this to be increased to 60 when the sliding doors are opened, creating an open space for a sit down dinner or a drinks reception. The space will also host Theo’s regular masterclasses.
