Bike it to Brazil with Las Iguanas, Bella Italia, Café Rouge, La Tasca and Belgo for the Race to Rio

As the world has its eyes on Brazil, the time has come to take a trip to Rio, without leaving the comfort of your own hometown… And it’s all for a very good cause!

Casual Dining Group (CDG), the leading UK restaurant group that operates Las Iguanas, Bella Italia and Café Rouge, has launched ‘Race to Rio’, a new partnership with The Prince’s Trust. Members of the CDG teams and the Great British public are invited to cycle the 5,839 miles to Rio between the 19th and 22nd of August in an attempt to raise £40,000 for the charity.

In order to take part, all you have to do is pop on one of the static bikes stationed at the CDG sites across the country* and clock up as few or as many miles as you can muster! After undertaking such a tiring endeavour, you’re going to need refuelling but you needn’t go far as CDG has got you covered with everything from Moules Frites and Rotisserie chicken at Belgo, or a taste of Spanish tapas at La Tasca. Café Rouge will be cooking up traditional French cuisine fit for any time of the day, whether you need a quick caffeine fix post cycle or a protein re-fuelling Steak Frites, or, if you’re clocking up the miles at Bella Italia why not head in after to enjoy their great range of pastas, pizzas and Italian classics all served with warm Italian hospitality!

Or, in the year that Las Iguanas is celebrating 25 years of bringing authentic Latin American cuisine to the UK, the new limited edition ‘Carioca’ Menu launched this summer offers diners a chance to sample the full flavour of Rio de Janeiro, featuring everything from Brazilian Tapas to classic Caipirinha cocktails.

Tara Leathers, Director of Fundraising at The Prince’s Trust has commented on Race to Rio saying: “We are immensely grateful to Casual Dining Group and their staff for their ‘Olympic’ efforts to raise vital funds for The Trust as we seek to support 100 more young people each day.”

So if you’re not lucky enough to be jetting to Rio this summer, get your cycling shorts on and get involved in the ‘Race to Rio’!

You can support CDG in their attempt to raise £40,000 by visiting their Just Giving page  and donating.
