For the past decade, employees at Las Iguanas have been competing in the annual ‘Race to Rio’ competition to WIN an all expenses trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Las Iguanas’ very own version of the Premier League, the Race to Rio is based on mystery dining scores at all Las Iguanas restaurants throughout the UK and anyone can win! The Race to Rio winners consist of a selection of team members from front of house, the bar, the kitchen and management team from the three restaurants with the highest mystery dining scores. They are joined on their adventure by the ‘Support Chef of the Year’ and ‘Support Manager of the Year’ as awarded at the Las Iguanas 2016 Awards Ceremony.

The incentive aims to further develop and improve the high level of customer service and product knowledge that already exists at Las Iguanas. In addition team members have the opportunity to enjoy a once in a lifetime trip to Rio and then share their experience with customers and peers on their return. To date over 120 Las Iguanas employees have taken part in the expedition.

The trip involves a packed itinerary of activities that take staff members right back to where everything began; the winners will experience first-hand the authentic South American hospitality that makes Las Iguanas so special and they will have the opportunity to visit Las Iguanas’ very own Cachaça plantation in the mountains outside Rio and meet master cachaça maker João Luiz de Faria.

The lucky winners will also get to visit some of the most astounding sites in the world, including one of the Seven Wonders of The Modern World, Cristo Redentor, as well as relaxing on the famous Copacabana beach with one (or two!) caipirinhas in hand.

This year’s winners are the amazing teams at Derby, Deansgate and York along with manager Jordan Discombe from Swansea and chef David Gregory from Exeter who will be dusting off their flip flops and taking flight for 7 nights on 27th March. We for one are very jealous…
