This Easter will see the launch of The Kitchen Counter in Herne Hill; the third site from Deliciously Ella. Following the success of The MaE Deli on Seymour Place and MaE on Weighhouse Street, Ella and her team will be bringing their ‘Natural. Simple. Honest’ ethos to South London.
Located on Milkwood Road, outside Herne Hill train station, The Kitchen Counter will be an extension of Deliciously Ella’s development kitchen. Open from 7:30am to 8pm on Monday to Friday, and 9am to 7pm at the weekends, the venue will be the ideal spot for grab-and-go morning coffees, lunches, brunches and healthy, light dinners.
The Kitchen Counter will offer a selection of breakfast options, from porridge bowls and freshly made smoothies, to sweetcorn fritters with baked beans & smashed avocado. For lunch and dinner, a selection of delicious, plant-based salads will be on offer, as well as soups and a range of sweets, including the signature MaE cake and popular fudgy brownie.
In addition to the classics, brand new seasonal dishes will be rotated on the menu, including freshly made rye sandwiches and ‘taster specials’, where samples of brand new dishes created by Ella and her team will be shared with customers.
A children’s menu will also be introduced, featuring dishes such as the ‘Kids Platter’ (Falafel, Hummus, Carrot & Celery Sticks) or Roasted Polenta Sticks with Tomato Sauce.
Perfect for a tea-time pick-me-up, a selection of cakes, muffins and Deliciously Ella Energy Balls will be available, including the brand new Almond & Blueberry Protein Ball. There will also be a wide range of organic cold-pressed juices, smoothies and hot drinks. As with all of Deliciously Ella’s food, the Herne Hill offering will be entirely free from wheat, dairy, additives, and refined sugar.
On the launch of The Kitchen Counter, Ella says;

Our customers at The Kitchen Counter will be the first to try new creations through our ‘taster specials’ and we’re also thrilled to launch our first children’s menu.
The Kitchen Counter is set in a bright and airy railway arch, will have 23 covers, and the interior is light and fresh, in keeping with the other delis. The focal point of the space will be a bespoke shelving feature, spanning the width & height of the arch, behind which will sit the open plan pastry kitchen. This will offer diners the opportunity to witness Ella’s talented team of chefs creating and developing dishes. For those eating in, there will be a large sharing table, ideal for those dining alone or in larger groups, as well as a range of stools and window counters.
