John Lewis has announced Foley’s as the next rooftop restaurant to take up residence at The Gardening Society, atop its flagship shop on Oxford Street. Popping up from mid June, Foley’s will offer a Middle Eastern inspired taco experience serving a bespoke menu of Foley’s tacos, ‘Bits & Bobs’ and creamy coconut panna cotta.

Riding the current wave for Taquerias, Foley’s head chef Mitz Vora has taken a fresh approach to the humble taco, introducing Middle-Eastern and Asian flavours to the traditional Mexican street food. The new Foley’s menu in John Lewis’ rooftop restaurant will also feature freshly picked herbs from the foraging garden of The Gardening Society.

Mitz Vora, Head Chef of Foley’s: “We’ve had a lot of fun creating this bespoke menu for the restaurant on the roof of John Lewis’ iconic Oxford Street shop, where customers will have the chance to enjoy flavours and influences from all over the world. We will be featuring six different taco fillings on the menu, including hearty pork belly with tamarind BBQ, as well as a fresh Goan crab option. Other dishes include our famous burnt chicken ends which will be served with a spicy Korean sauce, and sweet potato fritters with grilled pineapple that burst with the exotic flavours of Mumbai.”

The bespoke Foley’s and John Lewis menu includes:

  • Burnt Chicken Ends – Korean BBQ, spring onions, sesame seeds
  • Spiced Sweet Potato Fritters – Grilled pineapple, cured red onions, saffron coconut curry
  • Goan Crab Taco – Crab salad, crab bisque, crispy shallots, dill
  • Slow Cooked Octopus Taco – Black sesame mayo, spicy pork mince, bok choy, housemade sriracha
  • Sticky Beef Taco – Avocado lime puree, daikon and cucumber somtam
  • Pork Belly Taco – Tamarind BBQ, swede vermicelli, apple, buttermilk, cashews
  • Panna Cotta – Coconut, lemongrass, lychees, chilli & chocolate crumble, basil

Drinks experts Background Bars have created a menu for The Gardening Society, with cocktails including:

  • Green Society – Havana Club 3YO rum, Escubac, matcha green tea sugar, garden mint, soda
  • Bitter Pink – Campari, Plymouth sloe gin, lime, peach liqueur, peach bitters
  • Rosy Rose – Olmeca Altos Plata tequila, Grand Marnier, grapefruit, rosemary, agave, lime

Awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand just months after opening, Foley’s was recognised by customers and critics alike as one of the best new London restaurants when it opened just last year. Mitz calls on his experience working in top restaurants across the world – including The Palomar in London, famed for its Middle Eastern cuisine – to create unique and thoughtful menus.

Foley’s joins The Gardener’s Arms pub at The Gardening Society, a quintessential British summer garden. Britain’s smallest rooftop pub measures just 6ft by 8ft and serves a selection of drinks to be enjoyed within the verdant sky-high space. In addition to the restaurant and bar, the unique space offers bookable private dining Summerhouses, each with it own bespoke summer scent and private front garden – separated from the main area with white picket fences.

Not just a culinary destination, The Gardening Society plays host to 100 ‘Summer Series’ events including gardening masterclasses, wellbeing workshops, yoga, fitness and HIIT training from the experts at HEX. Visit the website for the latest updates and events
