Businesses have responded in different ways – and to different degrees of humour – to the tube strike. Apart from the warm appreciation by taxi drivers, others have seized the opportunity.
Adidas has encouraged people to run to work wearing, of course, its products. It’s using social media to reach a wide audience, promote its Boost range, and share their pics:
“When transport goes down, lace up. Show us how you’re beating the commute. Share your running ics! #BoostLondon.”
Nike has adopted a like approach, with posts to run to work – “Just Do It” – and tweeting:
“No Underground? Get the green line”
Seems a shame neither linked up with a hospitality operator and suggested a refreshing drink after the run home!
Hospitality offers included ‘MisoLate’!
Pizza Express offered customers 40% off their food bills as a reward for getting to work.
Yo Sushi gave visitors to restaurants near affected underground stations a free Miso Soup when they quoted the phrase “MisoLate”!
Whilst ETM Group was allowing a very generous 50% off food if customers quoted ‘tube strike’ when booking.
No doubt more creative offers will be ready in case next week’s strike takes place…
