Portsmouth’s seafront could be boosted by new catering and leisure opportunities as businesses are getting the rare chance to lease a number of sites in prime waterfront locations.

Located near a popular boating lake, the five sites available for recreational and catering opportunities, include a picturesque rose garden building, grass tennis courts with pavilion, hard ball courts, and two former bowls pavilions and greens.

Underserved for food and drink outlets

The council is currently testing the market for interest, with all business suggestions subject to planning permission.

Cllr Lee Hunt, Portsmouth City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport said: “Independent businesses are thriving along Portsmouth’s seafront and there’s an appetite for more.

“With a £1bn city regeneration strategy underway we’re on track to deliver a world-class waterfront for our residents and visitors to enjoy.

“A recent report by a catering specialist identified that this area was underserved for food and drink outlets.

“We are currently testing the market and urging businesses, individuals and social enterprises, who are interested in this exciting chance to transform an area which attracts over four million visitors year, to get in touch.”

Visit the seafront catering webpage for more information.

The closing date for submissions of interest is 23 August.
