Since launching in the historic Wiltshire market town of Marlborough in 1997, Coles Restaurant has established a reputation for excellence far and wide. Now, the owners are keen to pursue other interests and have placed the restaurant up for sale with Christie + Co.
Over 17 years, Coles has served classic English and Mediterranean cuisine to an ever-expanding and appreciative clientele. The restaurant has established a strong local following with both local residents and the local offices of nationally-renowned businesses. It entices repeat custom from both the surrounding area and visiting tourists.
The restaurant proved an instant hit upon opening, and in 2001 the capacity was increased to its current 95 covers with the addition of a mezzanine dining area to complement the original three-storey, 19th century, end-of-terrace plot.
Alongside the restaurant, Coles also has a bar and lounge area, which is especially popular during winter months as customers gather round a large open fire place.
The bar itself was designed in 1997 by Fred Baeir, one of the most prominent avant garde furniture makers in Britain today, while the tables and other furniture were all made specifically for the restaurant by Terence Conran’s company Benchmark.
Not only is Coles Restaurant an established and attractive business, it has the additional benefit of its location in Marlborough, one of Britain’s most attractive market towns, with an affluent population and a growing popularity amongst tourists from far and wide.
Open six days a week, Coles restaurant is both a high quality and high turnover establishment. Already an attractive proposition for any incoming owner-operator, the addition of Sunday lunch and dinner trading could further increase trade and turnover.
The freehold of Coles Restaurant is available for £1.1 million.
