Here’s a positive sign of changing times and opportunities. Getreading reports that Naomi Stoker will be opening gluten-free Nibsy’s Coffee Shop early in September, providing shoppers suffering from coeliac disease or wheat intolerance with a place where they can stop for a drink and a snack with confidence.
Owner Naomi Stoker hopes the store in Cross Street will lead to more branches opening in nearby towns, and says:
“Having worked in the investment industry I have taken a complete change and basically hope this is something Reading really needs because the gluten-free market is massively growing.”
Ms Stoker, 30, is gluten intolerant and knows how tricky it can be to find somewhere suitable to eat out, but points to the fact that there are now businesses making increased numbers of gluten-free products available – “It has massively improved over the last few years.”
But – it’s still difficult for customers wanting to eat-out to find gluten-free products. So Nibsy’s will offer wraps, sandwiches, cakes, brownies and seasonal items such as smoothies in the summer and soups and pies in the winter. And the coffee has been chosen to attract all customers.
Hopefully, Nibsy’s will be entering the FreeFrom Eating Out Awards next year!
