Ristorante Frescobaldi London, the first standalone restaurant and wine bar to be launched in the UK by Italy’s oldest and most respected wine dynasty, has officially opened in Mayfair.
The launch marks the first joint venture between the Frescobaldi family and the Good Food Society, a hospitality business set up by Levent Büyükuğur and entrepreneur Sanjay Nandi.
Already an established brand in Italy, Frescobaldi restaurants are acclaimed for their exquisite food and wine pairings and exceptional atmosphere.
Head chef Roberto Reatini has created an exquisite menu offering a contemporary take on classic Italian dishes, from carpaccio di gamberi rossi con capperi (red prawn carpaccio with olives)and pappardelle con guancia di vitello e pane al rosmarino (veal cheek pappardelle with rosemary bread) through to torta di mele e noci con gelato alla cannella (apple and walnut cake with cinnamon ice cream.)
Array of wines
Key to the Frescobaldi experience is an extensive array of wines produced by the legendary Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi, whose extraordinary 700-year history encompasses nine estates, distribution in 65 countries and countless awards.
Overseen by head sommelier Fabrizio Pavlic, formerly of the Hotel Cipriani in Venice, the list ranges from entry level wines such as Castiglioni Chianti 2013 through to the flagship Frescobaldi cuvée, Brunello di Montalcino Castelgiocondo Riserva.
The Frescobaldi heritage is very much in evidence throughout the restaurant’s elegant interiors. Award-winning designers Autoban have succeeded in creating an atmosphere akin to that of a private Italian dining room, imbued with a sense of warmth and hospitality.
