Harvester restaurants have helped raise over £400,000 for Make–A-Wish UK, the charity that grants magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
The partnership between Harvester and Make-A-Wish UK is now entering its tenth year, with a variety of fundraising initiatives being rolled out over that time.
From selling Make-A-Wish pin badges, to sponsored bike rides, Bake-A-Wish cake sales, teddy bears’ picnics, head shaves to a sponsored car rally – these are just a few of the fundraising successes from the past ten years.
The restaurant brand, known for its chicken, ribs and salad, also took part in the ‘Text Santa’ campaign in 2015 and raised over £5,000 for the ITV Text Santa charities; Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish and Save the Children.
The money raised since the start of the partnership has enabled Make-A-Wish UK grant over 100 wishes for children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
Sarah Gamble, Head of Marketing at Harvester, said: “We’re thrilled that 2016 is our tenth year of supporting Make-A-Wish UK and think it’s fantastic that the individual restaurants have collectively raised so much. At Harvester, we’re dedicated to creating memorable experiences for the whole family, so Make-A-Wish UK is the perfect cause for us to support.
“We will continue to work with Make-A-Wish UK and hope to raise more money in the future to give back to those who need it most.”
Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. Since being established in the UK in 1986, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 10,000 wishes. Wishes can range from meeting an idol, to enjoying a family holiday or having a dream bedroom makeover.
Laura Fisher, Head of Corporate Fundraising at Make-A-Wish commented: “We are grateful for Harvester’s support over the last ten years. Here at Make-A-Wish we’re passionate about what we do and it is so rewarding granting wishes to deserving children and young people.
“A wish brings widespread benefits to a child and their family; from creating incredible memories, building confidence and bringing happiness, to providing respite from the daily struggles that come with a life-threatening condition. The donations from Harvester will help us continue to transform the lives of some of the most deserving children in the UK.”
