Cyrus & Pervin Todiwala invite you to enjoy a feast at their now famous Khaadraas Club (Greedy Gourmand) Dinner at Cafe Spice Namaste, 12 September in aid of Find Your Feet, a charity dedicated to freeing lives from poverty in the remote areas of Africa and Asia. Everything raised at the event will be doubled by Natco Foods.
This occasion will be even more special than usual, as co-hosting the evening and cooking your dinner alongside Chef Cyrus – complementing his heirloom Parsee recipes – is Chef Romy Gill, owner of Romy’s Kitchen, one of the fabulous, and still rare, female chefs and restaurateurs in the UK.
The Khaadraas Club Menu
To start
Saria/Achaar – Parsee-style maize papads with our Mr Todiwala’s Splendidly Spicy pickles and chutneys.
1st course
Chollar Daal – A traditional Bengali recipe of chana dal or Bengal gram cooked with coconut and spices. Dal is slightly sweet and fragrant with the use of whole spices. Served with a Bombay-style bread roll.
2nd course
(Chef Romy) – Kolmi Purr Eedu – Chopped prawns cooked with red onion, spices and crushed tomato, topped with beaten egg and baked.
Mung Bean Noodle Salad – Fine thread bean noodles tossed with fried garlic, chili, onion, diced cucumber, crushed toasted peanuts, spring onion, fresh mint and coriander in a light curry leaf flavoured lime dressing.
Main course
(Chef Romy) – Butter Chicken – Chicken marinated in spices, ginger, garlic and Kashmiri chili and then cooked in the tandoor. The perfect balance of thick, creamy cashew nut-based tomato sauce works well with kasturi methi. Served with steamed rice.
Dessert
Pusta Aelchi Du Dahi – Cardamom-flavoured sweetened junket with pistachio
Badam Akhrot nay Anjeer ni Kaatri – Baked slice of crushed almonds, walnuts and figs.
Romy Gill and Cyrus & Pervin Todiwala’s Khaadraas Club takes place on Monday, 12th September 2016 at 7pm, Cafe Spice Namaste, 16 Prescot Street, London E1 8AZ.
