Located in the perfect corner position of a charming period building in Fitzrovia and steps from the Theatreland & Soho, PISQU brings to London a Peruvian gastronomic experience which showcases the mouth-watering flavours of modern day Lima.
The founder of Pisqu – Yuko Uchida originally Japanese who is married to a Peruvian man- Coco Gil wanted to bring her love of Peru and Peruvian food to London and introduce diners to an authentic Peruvian experience.
Having found the perfect location Yuko met head chef William Ortiz who shared the same vision and passion for Peruvian food and the ingredients. The name ‘Pisqu’ references the Quechua word that signifies ‘bird’, ‘rising’, ‘vibrant’ and echoes the eponymous birthplace of Peru’s national drink – the Pisco sour.
Pisqu offers authentic Peruvian food, wines and cocktails. The flavours will transport you to experience the great variety of influences that make Peruvian food: indigenous food with Japanese, Spanish and Chinese influences.
Chef William uses quality, healthy and natural superfood ingredients of which many are sourced from the Amazon and Andes in the food served at Pisqu. For example Aji peppers, Inca corn, Yuca, Citrus, Camu, Cedron, Maca, Achiote and the rich varieties of Peruvian native potatoes.
Their signature dishes include Hot Ceviche (seafood in yellow aji tiger’s milk served warm), Chicharron (confit pork belly, sweet potato with rocoto sauce), Lomo a la parrilla (beef filet pachamanca sauce, yellow potato puree or corn grain cake), Ceviche counters, the purple corn ice cream and the Pisqu chocolate mousse with Matcha Ice Cream.
The food at Pisqu is made fresh daily, the team suppliers deliver fresh produce daily and are all organic. The fish are line caught and the meats are from stock raised naturally. All of Pisqu’s Peruvian ingredients are carefully selected and imported from organic sources only.
Pisqu’s address, 23 Rathbone Place, is a very special place, having housed The Buttery Grill restaurant in the latter part of 1900s serving the historically bohemian Fitzrovia.
The ground floor of the restaurant is decorated in royal inca grey, where one will be able to see the tiradito & ceviche chef at work behind the buzzy 12 seat copper-topped Pisco Bar or one can sit along the L-shaped space where you will be able see the busy thoroughfare between Oxford Street and Charlotte Street through the full-height windows. For a more intimate setting, you can head downstairs to the lounge area where you will find the Vaults: Nazca & Round Hill, for a more private dining experience.
Pisqu offers food and drink for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The Pisqu Bar features a selection of Pisco cocktails, Peruvian beer and a list of fine wines.
