Eat4HOPE Campaign Launches at Calcutta Street 1

Fitzrovia favourite Calcutta Street is to host the official launch of Eat4HOPE, a major new restaurant donation programme in support of The Hope Foundation.

Calcutta Street owner Shrimoyee Chakraborty is an active supporter of HOPE, the Kolkata-based charity that helps protect children against poverty through educational, healthcare and outreach programmes, drugs rehabilitation and a night watch team.

The initiative will see restaurant partners throughout the capital add a discretionary donation of £1 to the bill for every table that dines. Each £1 raised will ensure a healthy start to a life of change through education, vocational training and protection.

The charity was featured on the BBC documentary Kolkata with Sue Perkins and the presenter has come on board as the Eat4HOPE campaign ambassador.

Said Sue Perkins, “India is known worldwide for its incredible food, vibrant culture and spirituality, but it’s also a country of contradictions. An economic powerhouse, but also home to the most vulnerable children in the world. The Hope Foundation supports children in Calcutta who live, work, eat and play on the streets and railway tracks. Eat4HOPE gives you the opportunity to help these children.”
