Gaucho Raises £12k at ‘Great Gaucho Walk’ 1

On Sunday 9th October, 180 people walked from Gaucho Sloane to Gaucho O2 in order to raise money for Gaucho’s official charity partner Key4Life.  With donations for the cause still coming in, Gaucho raised over £12k for Key4Life by enlisting walkers for £50pp as well as receiving sponsorship and donations. Key4Life’s aim is to rehabilitate young offenders. Gaucho has taken on young adults within the Key4Life programme as mentees as well as some who now work within Gaucho full time.

With over 60% of the young offenders in their London programme securing work after leaving prison, Key4Life has had extraordinary success in offering key employability skills and tackling the root causes of re-offending.

Gaucho Marketing Director, Matt Ford commented – “This walk was organised to celebrate and raise awareness for the amazing work that Key4Life do.  At Gaucho, we are fully immersing ourselves in the Key4Life programme having started to work with them in 2015.  We have mentors that work across all sectors of the business such as Head of Recruitment Lia Villareal to our excellent chefs such as our Master Griller, Fernando Larroude. We offer work tasters for the Key4Life mentees, where they spend 3 days working in the restaurant, learning basic skills such as food prep and cookery. Mentees in the past have been offered the chance to work on a permanent basis in the restaurant.”

Walkers were joined by Key4Life mentees and success stories including Anthon, who now works for Gaucho full time – “The walk was a great help to network the charity and Gaucho supported with such an incredible event and it makes me feel even more heart-warmed and committed to continue to work for a such great company.”

Key4Life’s Eva Hamilton MBE, Founder and CEO says – “Gaucho City Walk was an example of Gaucho’s sheer inspiration, to not only give everyone a wonderful walk across London and outstanding hospitality but importantly help raise awareness of the importance of breaking the cycle of crime. It was an incredible event that brought together people from different backgrounds to support Key4Life, including several of the young men who have been through the programme who walked the 12-mile route. We thank Gaucho for organising what one supporter called “the best charity event I’ve ever been to”.

With pit stops at Gaucho Piccadilly and Gaucho Tower Bridge where – in true Gaucho style – Champagne, cocktails and Argentine inspired snacks were offered to weary walkers. The walk culminated at Gaucho O2, rib-eye steaks and Argentine wine were served upon arrival and celebrations began for this great achievement organised by Gaucho and Key4Life.
