This week marks the official opening of acclaimed restaurateur, Rajesh Suri’s, first solo project, Grand Trunk Road.
Extending an unrivalled reputation in the Indian restaurant industry, Rajesh Suri is synonymous with Michelin-starred eateries such as Mayfair’s Tamarind, as well as Imli and Zaika in Kensington. Grand Trunk Road also sees him working once again with the incendiary talents of long-time collaborator, Head Chef Dayashankar Sharma, at the heart of East London’s South Woodford.
True to the roots of its colorful and illustrious namesake, menu highlights include Tiger prawns with coconut milk, turmeric and ginger, Baby eggplant with red and green peppers in masala, Ground lamb with garden peas, egg and freshly roasted whole spices and Homemade mango kuli and Cinnamon chocolate cake. Drinks incorporate a sumptuous list of cocktails, lagers and Indian wines.
The interior, designed by Rajesh himself, displays warming copper tones paired with stone, softly lit with amber lighting, and includes a deluxe corner booth for gatherings and larger group bookings.
The historical Grand Trunk Road is one that holds a legendary stature for the diversity of Indian trading, complete with a tapestry of flavours and recipes that has increased with the years.
The perfect antidote to the colder months, the official opening of the Grand Trunk Road brings a delectable air of richness and authenticity; combining ancient flavours with contemporary dining amid modern, welcoming décor, complimented even further by premium service and atmosphere.
