It only opened at the end of March in the basement of 45 Frith Street, but such has been the reaction to ZIMA that from today this new Russian street food concept is taking over the entire Grade II listed Soho townhouse!
Guests will now be able to enjoy Alexei Zimin’s fabulous creations and homemade vodka infusions over three floors, each with their own unique atmosphere.
The basement space (pictured left) will retain its Soviet era ryumochnaya (vodka bar) feel adorned with slogan- and symbol-embossed propaganda porcelain, all mixed in with some contemporary Soho touches.
On the slightly more formal ground and first floors, ZIMA will offer an extended menu for a fully immersive dining experience. Zimin, a writer, chef, TV presenter and restaurateur who has been credited with changing the way that Russians eat, is putting the finishing touches to more delicious dishes based on classic recipes from his homeland. These will be complemented by creations that have already become firm favourites, including borsch, beef stroganoff and the best priced caviar in town.
In addition, a delightful and spacious terrace will be the perfect spot for a little al fresco dining over the summer. This area, along with the rest of ZIMA, is available to hire for private events.
With a late licence until 1am, ZIMA offers visitors and Sohoites alike a myriad of options, whether it’s a business lunch, a meal with friends or a night cap.
ZIMA will also be hosting a regular programme of events, from poetry readings and cookery classes to screenings, sealing its reputation as one of Soho’s most innovative gastronomic, cultural and social hubs.
To celebrate the launch, ZIMA will be offering customers 25% off their food bill from 12pm until 5pm until the end of May.
ZIMA will open Tuesday to Saturday from 12 noon until 1am. Reservations for lunch and dinner will be accepted for the ground floor and first floor restaurants.
